NEWS

I HAD A GOOD TIME AT THE CONCERT ON THURSDAY ! http://buffalo.com/2014/12/19/featured/kerfuffle-beats-the-odds-with-stellar-alt-rock-lineup/ Link to Robert Delong : http://robertdelong.com/about From BN Gusto... The maiden voyage of Kerfuffle took place over the summer at Canalside, and was a commercial and artistic success, offering many in attendance their first exposure to bands like Bear Hands and Bleachers. For 107.7’s first holiday show, a slightly more mainstream bill is being offered, via headliners Fitz & the Tantrums and the Airborne Toxic Event, but artists like Jungle and Walk the Moon are young and relatively eclectic in their approaches. Here’s a look: Fitz & the Tantrums Known and loved by Buffalo audiences for several years through some incendiary performances at Canalside and, prior to that, Thursday at the Square, Fitz & the Tantrums conjures a neo-soul/pop party every time it takes the stage. The band has honed its collective craft through all but ceaseless touring, becoming one of the most consistently dynamic live ensembles in modern alternative music. You might want to go out of your way to make the sextet feel warm and welcome in the dead of a Buffalo winter – these guys are from California, after all. Jungle One of the more refreshing developments in present-day alternative music is the interspersion of classic funk and soul tropes into a new-wave core sound. One of the youngest acts on the Kerfuffle bill, London-born outfit Jungle, has a penchant for 1970s funk, and unlike many among its peer group, is firmly dedicated to reproducing that music’s organic flair via the use of real instruments played by real people in real time. Robert Delong It wouldn’t be a proper Kerfuffle without some electronic music, now would it? Delong will fulfill the quota, with his infectious marriage of EDM and house music, delivered with an alt-rock veneer. Expect to hear selections from 2013’s “Just Movement,” as well as bits of the new “Long Way Down” EP. The Airborne Toxic Event This band has been slogging away at it for a good while now, but the buzz about its forthcoming new album, “Dope Machines,” suggests that a major artistic breakthrough is in the offing. In fact, a few pundits have compared the breakthrough represented by this new album to be similar to the one Radiohead made between “The Bends” and the career-defining “OK Computer.” Those are some seriously heavy suggestions, but if the first single “Wrong” offers any indication, these Airborne avengers just might be up to the task. “Dope Machines” drops Feb. 24, but expect a preview during Kerfuffle. Neon Trees Hailed by Rolling Stone for its ability to transform “post-Strokes dance rock into unshakable radio pop,” Neon Trees is no stranger to First Niagara Center and Buffalo audiences. Having already stolen the show during a recent Kissmas Bash, the group has gone on to claim a prominent position in the forum of contemporary arena-pop. Unabashedly in love with the 1980s before Jack Antonoff had even entered a recording studio for the first time, Neon Trees has perfected the art of grandiose, wave-your-cellphone-in-the-air anthemic alt-pop. Walk the Moon The Cincinnati quartet gets points right out of the gate for naming itself after the Police’s infectious neo-reggae chestnut “Walking on the Moon.” Not that these guys are some sort of tribute to the Police or anything – this is present-tense alt-pop with art-rock overtones and a terse, skittish pulse. Expect an emphasis on material from “Talking Is Hard,” which will be barely over a week old when the group performs at Kerfuffle. email: jmiers@buffnews.com

THIS IS SAD !

It is so sad to see and hear about all these women sticking with men who mistreat them. If he cheats on you, he will probably cheat on you again. If he hits you, he will probably hit you again. If he breaks your heart in any way, you better believe he will probably do it again. A lot of women really need to learn to be THEIR OWN BEST FRIENDS.
