Bio: Songcraft Live began in the mind of NC singer-songwriter, Daniel Justin Smith. In January 2012, after deciding to stop touring professionally to be closer to his family, Smith began looking into avenues that would allow him to focus his career on his true passion: songwriting. Smith’s vision for SCL was heavily influenced by his performances on the world-renowned radio show, Music City Roots in Nashville, TN. Using MCR as a benchmark for professionalism and the desire to create a showcase for songwriters and their art, Smith’s vision began to take shape. When Smith decided to pursue his ideas for SCL, he contacted a close friend who owns and operates one of his favorite venues. Chris Phelps of High Rock Outfitters in Lexington, NC was the perfect fit to partner with Smith in this venture. He had the right venue, he had the passion for music, and not only did he grasp the vision, he added to it. After the initial meeting and formation of their partnership, Smith and Phelps assembled a team of individuals who proved invaluable in turning their vision into a reality. The SCL team is intent on making each show a memorable experience for artists and patrons. SCL provides a platform for songwriters to showcase their art in an intimate setting. Viewers not only witness the writer’s performance but also gain insight into how and why the artists create.
