ShaD Ali / Press

“This new record by MC Shad Ali, a Wilkinsburg native, is perfect for listeners in search of a mature hip-hop sound. The album has an East Coast feel, with content that reflects strong Pittsburgh roots. A range of producers — including Chuck Yayger and J Card — help to create the perfect backdrop for Ali's poetic lyrical style: Lyrics such as "Stimulate unzip a file / minutes and seconds don't measure ours / I was early, spent my life waiting wild young and free" will definitely garner a second listen. Songs like "Outside of Me" show Ali's ability to be subjective regarding his life and circumstances, while other songs, such as "You're Responsible," highlight how he's able to be objective without being preachy. With captivating wordplay and unorthodox airy production, Shad is able to breathe new life into his old school sound. “The smooth-flowing, mellow-voiced rapper offers rhymes about the hardships of his Wilkinsburg upbringing while introducing his ambitious persona on this debut album. On "Forbes Ave.," Ali shares his story of finding solace while walking along the road that spans many of Pittsburgh' s eastern neighborhoods. While reflecting on some less-fortunate life experiences, the MC preaches aspirations on "Pioneer," rapping: "Acquainted with the struggle but I can' t embrace poverty / generate funds and build my hood up properly." In addition to Ali' s introspective lyrics, the album includes great production from Baka, Depo Shot, PLAN and Sven Diamond.”

“Who first recognized your talents and what it meant to you? My older cousin Tahir Jahi. He has a fearless style of music that I admired. He always was willing to listen to whatever music I was working on, and he holds no punches when providing his opinion on the stuff that I make. Not sure if he knows it, but he’s played a great role in my development as an artist. First problem you have come across? Song structure and arrangement. When I started writing rhymes, it was more for me, and chasing away the stress that I was dealing with. Capturing thoughts in a potent form that would appeal to a listener is a difficulty that I’m working through currently. That I didn’t know how to count bars either, ha. As an up and coming artist what was it that you seen that you needed to improve on? Consistency in releases, my cadence, and my business mind. I’m so critical when it comes to the stuff I do, that it helps and hinders me. Which is weird I know, but I’ll get through it.”

“Rapper Shad Ali. is back with a new single off his All For the Love album, which will be released on May 5. “Super Live (All Day)” enlists fellow pothead Beedie on a guest verse, while Sven Diamond laces the production of this upbeat anthem. “The bar was set fairly high after that but the night continued on with a stellar performance from Shad Ali (@ShadAli_). Shad is an artist from the area that I hadn’t heard much from before. When Cory told me who was performing I was like who is that kid? All he said was trust me he is dope. There are a few people I don’t question about music Cory, my wife and Jon Quest (@JonQuest412). That night I spoke to Quest ( who just released “The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest Season 2“) that night he told he was performing with Shad so I asked him who is this kid? He confirmed pretty much what Cory told me weeks prior “Shad Ali is dope”. o with co-signs from two of the more respected people in the Pittsburgh Hip Hop scene the bar was set very high for Shad. When he came on I was enthralled in the beat that was on for about a minute and a half before I looked up and realized he was free-styling. He went on and on even threw in a shout out to Brainofbmw.com for sponsoring!”
