Why you can't fake out a record label!

With all the tools we have for multi media and the internet, more artists then ever before have the golden opportunity to have their music heard. With this also come a false sense of reality that if they put audio on the internet and a video on you tube some record label will magically come down and lift them out of obscurity. This idea is further complicated by software that can generate thousands of hits on you tube, likes on facebook and twitter followers on twitter. I have seen plenty of artists try this approach. The problem with it is you don't have real fans that would attend a show and buy merchandise. Record labels are comprised of business people who are interested in artists that can generate revenue. They can spot the poser from the real deal. Think about it. If you see someone who has millions of views on youtube, doesn't it stand to reason they would also have thousands of likes, dislikes and at the very minimum hundreds of comments. The law of averages seems to say so! So if you want to attract attention from Labels, Managers, Agents, Clubs do it the right way and the real way with real people!
