“I love you, and because I love you, I would sooner have you hate me for telling you the truth than adore me for telling you lies.” Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude. It is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrong doing. It does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres."

Pastor Describes 'Devastating' Loss
14-Year-Old Middle School Soccer Player Dies From Brain Injuries
UPDATED: 7:10 am EST February 23, 2011
Josh Walter
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The pastor of a 14-year-old who died after an on-field collision during a soccer game last week said that when the teen spoke, everyone listened.
Joshua Walter, an eighth-grader at Kirby Smith, died Monday after spending five days in a hospital in critical condition with swelling around his brain.
Walter was playing goalie in a game at Jeb Stuart Middle School when he and a player from the opposing team collided.
Ryan Colbert, Walter's pastor at Highlands Baptist Church, said Walter came out of the goalie box and was diving for the ball when the other player was attempting to make a last-minute shot. The player tried to jump over Walter to avoid hitting him, but his knee hit the back of Walter's head.
"He was absolutely one of the greatest kids I have," Colbert said. "Obviously, all my kids are great, but Josh just, he kind of stood out above the rest of them for me."

Pastor Describes 'Devastating' Loss
Colbert said Walter was a leader who had a warm heart. He said Walter was wise beyond his years and someone everyone else looked up to.
"It's definitely sent a wave of shock through our church and through the whole community," Colbert said. "His school is devastated. His parents are devastated. His family, especially, and us, his church family, we're just devastated that he's gone."
Colbert said he called a special service at the church after Walter died so that friends and family could talk about Walter and how he touched their lives.
"We'll definitely miss him," Colbert said. "I know there's a place in my heart that's just not going to be the same."
Colbert said Walter's parents decided to donate the teen's organs because that's what he would have wanted. His funeral plans are pending finding organ recipients
