Boston is a cool city. Went to dinner with good friends at Sorriso. The food was great - I mean really great. The had fried squash blossoms - not something I find n a lot of restaurants and they were great.
The dinner included several cold beers which required a trip the restrooms - the restaurant's bathrooms were clean and unique. The walls were covered with small polished rocks - very nice touch. They were very clean and private. Great restaurant and very nice bathrooms.

I am traveling the northeast this week and the bathrooms have covered the full range of quality. When I was in NYC, I had to make quick stop in a MCD's near the East Village. We were heading to a subway entrance that would allow me to pick up the Path train at 33rd Steet. The MCD's was busy but that is no excuse for a dirty bathroom - employees use that bathroom - there was no way they could use it and leave clean enough to even walk by my food. The bathroom at the Path station in Newark was much cleaner and nicer than the one I stopped at in NYC.

Went to go see Solare in Los Angeles Thursday night. I think the band is great. They were playing at the Knitting Factory. The show started around 8pm - there were a total of 5 bands playing - Solare head lining and playing last. I suffered through the first band - High Saints. The next band - Tweak Bird was pretty good. The name of the next band should be ASS because the played as bad as ass smells- but I think they were called Nationale - horrible - horrible. I went and found Solare - met Josh and apologized for not being able to stay any longer. Saddly I do have to get up and work. I would be remiss of cousre if I did not comment on the bathroom at the Knitting Factory. There are 3 clubs within The Knitting Factory - Solare was playing in the one called Alterknit. The bathroom hallway doubles as the Green room for the club - it can be daunting to ask the likes of Nationale to let you pass as you head to the bathroom(if I were smart I would have just shit myself and then left - it would have been better then listening to that band.) Back to the bathroom - it was big - very clean and for a night club the smell was not that bad. I was very pleased and would recommend the Knitting Factory crapper to anyone.

I have been drinking massive amounts of water these days and it has a clear result - I have to stop a lot more these days to releave myself.
I was heading north on I-85 this week and my back teeth started floating. I put off stopping until I was clear of all of the headaches that come with stopping in Charlotte. There are a couple of rules I have tried to live by when it comes to stopping at gas stations to use the bathroom - these are rules that should not e broken but when you push the bladder to the limit - you make bad decisions.
That is what happened to me at the Poplar Trent Road exit on I-85. The exit is the first one after Concord Mills and the new by-pass around Charlotte. I pulled off and went to the Shell Gas station. The station has its rest room access loacted on the outside of the store - that is a give away to a crappy - smelly bathroom. You should at all costs avoid a bathroom that you have to go outside the store to use. If the employees don't have to smell it all day - they don't care about how clean the restroom is at given point in a day. Well - this one did not disappoint - dirty tolitet paper in the toilet - toliet paper in the sink. Urine on the floor and writting all over the place - even the ceiling. No one had repainted or cleaned the walls for a long time. Next time I will stop at the Concord Mills exit and find somewhere nice and clean.

I was traveling eastbound on I-40 when the urge came upon me. It turned out that my bodily functions were matched up with my car - it needed gas. I stopped at the Kernesville exit between Greensboro and Winston-Salem. The exit is also for Hwy 66. There is a Quality Mart at this exit and they are normally very good places to stop around North Carolina. I was saddened by the appearance of this restroom. There were urine stains on the wall and small puddles of urine around the urinal. I would like to think that this was rare event but the spray patern on the wall lead me to believe otherwise. I also had to flush for the person or people before me. I do not know why these places will not purchase the auto flush systems that are available from a variety of manufacturers. It would mean a lot to people like myself. There are two other places at that exit to try and one of them has a McDonalds located inside - I would try those - I know that I will next time.
I will be heading to southern California in two weeks for work. I look forward to sharing what I learn about the west coast Crappers.

Last week I was traveling around Triad area when nature came a calling. Right off of I-85 at the Thomasville exit I found what looked like a nice clean gas station. It was the Raceway - nice appearance - good gas prices - everything was looking great until I headed into the bathroom. As I was heading into the bathroom - the person working at the station wanted to know if all I had to do was pea - that was a little alarming but I tought he must just be curious sole. I went in and to my dismay the bathroom was a wreck. It looked like somebody had vomitted all over the toilet. It is possibly the grossed bathroom I have ever been in and that says a lot. I am sure by now it has been cleaned up but the fact they let anyone in there when the bathroom was that dirty just amazes me.
I traveled a little more north on I-85 to the High Point exit. I was determined to find a clean, nice bathroom. I found a Circle K and it was a delight. The bathroom was clean - bright - plenty of supplies - indeed a bathroom that is worth going to anytime the urges hits you and you are in the High Point area.

The sudden urge came upon me in the Raleigh area last week. Luckily for me I was in familar territory. I was heading to Raleigh from Sanford on Highway 1 just before it turns into the the beltway. There is an exit - Ten Ten. Just off the exit is a great BP gas station. Not only does the gas station have a great food and beverage selection - it has a very nice bathroom. Large - clean - very well kept. I would recommend it anyone in need.
I am sad to say that the pickens were a little slim in Greenville, NC. I spent the night with some friends. They have a lovely house but their guest bathroom could not handle what I had to offer. After stopping up the toilet and flooding the bathroom - I quickly thanked them for their free room and board and fled for a more suitable bathroom. If your ever in Greenville - the Tucker neighborhood is not the place to stop and drop.

This week I was in Tennessee. The urge came out of no where and I found myself sprinting into the Office Depot at 2111 North Roan Street in Johnson City. The bathroom is located in the back, right corner of the store. There were two stalls including the handicap stall - the hadnicap one was as large as many NYC apartments - it had its own sink. The bathroom was clean and well lit. I was a little disappointed that the toilet paper was not in the holder but it was soft and there was plenty of it for me needs. It was a bathroom I will return to if the need arises.

For over 10 years I have traveled around the country for a living. I spend most of my time in the southeast but a few times a year I venture north and west.
I drive around 60,000 miles per year. Sometimes a crap comes on mighty quick and you need to go, so about 8 years ago I started to keep a journal of good and bad bathrooms around the country. It helped my out when I was back in a town and needed to go - I didn't want to make the same mistake twice.
So - I know that bands that travel all over and they have the same problem I do when it comes to needing a good clean crapper - where to stop - is it clean - well lit? Every week I will begin to share the good - the bad - and the ugly from my travels. When I can I will include photos.
