Being the Girlfriend and Manager of a Rock Musician is always a hard balance to maintain. Sometimes you have to put your personal feelings aside to ensure business and professionalism is always maintained while giving support and 'being there' through the trials and tribulations.
It's never easy when fans decide to consider themselves 'friends' and assume to know anything about our life. It's even harder when some fans over step the boundaries and become stalker(ish). No one wants to ever upset a fan, but, it's important to also maintain a respectable distance and not become too familiar irrespective of how much music they buy.
My advise to musicians is to manage your sites carefully. Refrain from entering into "inbox" conversations as this only encourages fans to consider themselves more than a fan. Be very careful about what you reveal about yourself, as some people will use it against you at some later stage.
Keep the mystery alive by keeping all conversations in public for all to read and keeping fans at arms length. Familiarity breeds contempt is a saying that all musicians need to take to heart.
