The first time that I came across Dream Aria was back in 2011, I was on Myspace at the time, and when i started to listen to them, I was thinking that these are pretty good, Dream Aria have a wide range of styles that pretty much everyone will enjoy listening to. In the Wake album has many genres of music such as opera, rock, hard rock, pop, classical , ambient, electronic etc. There is on some tracks, you can here influences from the middle east and from Asia. This album is very easy to listen to as its not in your face, its not over powering and you can quite happily put this on and do some serious chillin'. The last track of the album The 11th Hour is my favourite track, it hasn't been off my general playlist since I got it back in 2011. I really enjoyed this album, to the point that I have created a full playlist of Dream Aria.
Transcend album is slightly different to In The Wake album, it has more rock and metal to its feel and over all sound. Transcend, has definitely got the metal sound, that will get even the casual rocker/metaller into Dream Aria. This album has elements of Goth and Symphonic rock, which will appeal to fans of Nightwish and Within Temptation. The last track of this album is a classical piece of music called Flower Duet, but Dream Aria have rearranged it, as they have arranged the piece to metal music now it is one of my favourite tracks.
Fallen Angel album is amazing, the title track, what a song, the video to the song is below: you'll not regret watching it.
The whole Fallen Angel album is metal but they haven't went crazy with it. It also has Melodic, Symphonic, Goth feel to it as the previous album Transcend. On Gypsy, the guitars have that de-tuned, heavy thunderous sound that even the death metallers will be proud of and it continues through out the album. The metallers will totally appreciate this album as there is a lot of myth and legends of werewolves. If you like Powerwolf, you will like this album. Ann (the lead singer), on this album has hit the sweet spot, her vocals are well suited for this music, Dream Aria's previous albums are brilliant, Ann's vocals on those albums were spot on, but the Fallen Angel album is the best for her vocals.
I have recently been talking to Don Stagg (keyboards) and he has said to me that Dream Aria are working on a new album. I have listened to some of their tracks from the album and from what I have heard, it sounds different to Fallen Angel, he has said that they are moving away from the heavy rock/metal sound of Fallen Angel and going back slightly to In The Wake and Transcend albums, to give this album more rounded sound. Don't get me wrong, this album will be a rock album, but it will have other genres in there. I can't wait for this new album to come out, from the songs that I have listened to are anything to go by, this album should be good, possibly even better that the previous albums.
If you haven't heard any of the albums, I would recommend to get In The Wake album first, as this is the best album for you to get into Dream Aria, but if you like the heavier side of things, I would recommend Transcend or Fallen Angel first as these are more metal.
These are some links to there respective pages Dream Aria at Reverbnation, Dream Aria at Twitter
I rate these albums as follows:
In The Wake 4.5 out of 5
Transcend 5 out of 5
Fallen Angel 5 out of 5

Pussy Willow Furry Venus Gig Review
When I found out a few weeks ago that Pussy Willow Furry Venus doing on the 23rd of Feb at Fitzgerald's in Sunderland, I had to go to the gig, as I have been listening to them on and of for a few weeks, so I had to go and see them.
I got to the venue early just to scope the place out and the is pretty big and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
The support band
Waste Of Space was the support band, from my 25 years experience of going to gigs up and down the country, that I found that usually the support bands are pretty much shit, but not in this case. Waste Of Space surprised me at the gig, they had the energy, the passion and the aggression of a punk band.Waste of Space caught my attention tonight, I wasn't expecting it, it came so out of the left field, I was pleasantly surprised by it, I must say that I have to see these guys again. I would highly recommend that you check these guys out if you like punk. Their twitter is @_WasteofSpace.
The main band
Well what can I say about Pussy Willow Furry Venus. I thought they were good from what I have heard of their music, but after I saw them live they were even better in the flesh than in the studio. It was an experience, watching the band perform live, they played a 45 minute set and they played Sticky Vicky from their E.P. Sticky Vicky, The Slag That Fell To Earth, they also did several of the song from the E.P. and some new ones. If you have the chance, GO AND SEE THEM, you will not be disappointed, these were amazing live. Check these guys out at ReverbNation their page is Pussy Willow Furry Venus, on there, you can listen to some of their music and even watch a video of Sticky Vicky.
I would definitely give this gig 5 out of 5 for the best night out I had in ages

PussyWillowFurryVenus
Ever since I moved back to my home city of Sunderland a few years back, I have been hearing about Pussy Willow Furry Venus from various people that I have met, they all said to me that "I should check them out", so I did. When I looked on ReverbNation, where I found them on. I started to listen to them and I was impressed to what I was hearing.
On there, the first song that I came across, is a weird one, but has a song title that has a play on words (part of it is a David Bowie Film) The Man That Fell To Earth, and Sticky Vicky. the song is called Sticky Vicky The Slag That Fell To Earth, Its really a good song and there is a video to accompany it, the video is up on their ReverbNation page.
As I went through their music I came to the conclusion that they are good and they have a few gigs in and around Sunderland and Newcastle area in the next month or so. More details or their ReverbNation Page.
I am hoping to get to the 23th of Feb gig in Sunderland, I am Hoping to get to this gig and do a gig review so watch this space.

Alunah Review
When I found Alunah a few months back, I wasn't overly impressed by them, as they sound very much like an early Black Sabbath tribute band, but after listening to or watching their videos for a good few weeks, I was thinking "Yeah, now I see where they are coming from". When I realized where they were coming from, they were coming from a nature's point of view, were nature is channeling its essence through Alunah and through their music, and they are saying that the world is dying and we should stop what we are doing to the planet, and help nurture it back to full health.
Alunah are from the Walsall area of the UK, which is just outside of Birmingham, the same area which Black Sabbath and Judas Priest hail from. And Sabbath and Priest have past on the torch to Alunah, and they have accepted the torch and they a running with it, and they are, with pride, holding it aloft and keeping the spirit of Heavy Metal alive.
As I did some research on Alunah they have the same record label with such bands as Delain, Powerwolf, Greenleaf etc, so they are in good company as bands go.
As for Alunah's music goes, its very similar to the very early Black Sabbath's albums, which in a way is very reminiscent, with this, it will please a lot of Hard Rock/Metal fans of the early 70's.
If you haven't heard of Alunah, I would highly recommend that you go check them out. They have 3 full albums out, "Call of Avernus" (2010), "White Hoarhound" (2012), and "Awakening The Forest" (2014)
I would definitely give Alunah 4 out of 5 as these are making a stand, and keeping hard rock and metal alive.

Verde Review
When a band follows me on Twitter, I usually go and check them out, if I don't know them or if I do know them but I don't know them that well, I will go and check them out. When Verde, a band from New York, USA, who are a Metal/Alternative Metal band, followed me Twitter I was thinking "I haven't heard of you guys, I'll check you out before I follow back", and thats what I did. I went onto their site where you can buy their merchandise and listened to some tracks by them, and what confronted me was that this band is totally awesome, I was like, "How the hell did I miss these for so long"
When I followed them and posted a Tweet that Verde was "Pretty shit hot" and we started to chat about stuff, and from what I can fathom out is, that these guys are pretty decent people, who are passionate about their music, and this is one of the reasons what look for in a band, a singer, a group or whatever, its about the passion for the music that they are creating.
I have been listening the some of Verde' music as I am writing this, I am seriously becoming a fan of these, because I can definitely hear the passion in the music. If you like Rage Against The Machine, Biohazard, Red Hot Chilli Peppers etc you will love these.
Verde's music is very Bass Guitar driven, which is very much like The Chilli's, plus I can also hear (I don't know they were influenced by them), but I can definitely hear a small amount of Cypress Hill in there as well. One of my favourite tracks by Verde is Power, I could quite happily listen to this track all day.
If you haven't heard of Verde, I would VERY highly recommend you to go and check Verde out on their website, you will not be disappointed.
I would definitely give this band 5 out of 5

BABYMETAL
Back in 2009, according to legend, Kobametal was visited by The Fox God, Kobametal was given a divine message from the Big Fox, the message was: To start a Metal Band. Kobametal already had a singer in mind and that singer was Nakamoto Suzuka. The Fox God came to Kobametal again and said that Suzuka was indeed the chosen one. So in 2009, when Kobametal first heard Suzuka sing with the band Karen Girl's and he thought that she was perfect for the lead vocals in a metal band. So when Karen Girl's disbanded, Kobametal approached Suzuka if she wanted to be the lead singer in a metal band. Suzuka said yes. Also Kobametal wanted two kids to contrast Suzuka, as Kobametal described Yui and Moa (scream and dance),
As angels dancing and worshiping Suzuka because of her unique stage presence"
This was when BABYMETAL was formed. The Fox God was pleased with Kobametal's chose of singers and dancers. The next message that The Big Fox given to Kobametal was the band name. BABYMETAL is a play on words Baby means Newborn and METAL means Intensity.
The Kami Band the backing band of BABYMETAL, is group of Japanese metal musicians, that are considered to be Gods of Metal. Who am I to disagree with, The Fox God, it was him that chose them to be in the band. These musicians are amazing.
Over the last 6 years, since the bands inception they brought out only singles for the first 4 years, and they were doing really well, so well, back in 2014 they brought out their first full album, primarily all of their singles were put onto one album, that was released in Japan, but with the success of their videos on YouTube across the world, they released the album worldwide back in 2015. With the success of their videos in 2012/13 they started touring Europe and the US, and in 2014 Lady GaGa asked them to be her opening act for 5 dates in America. They even were headlining their own tours. Dragonforce joined forces with them and written and performed some tracks of their first album, and in 2015 Dragonforce were at Download and they brought out BABYMETAL on stage to perform Gimme Chocolate, but the event organizer went ballistic, and saying I will not book BABYMETAL. They won the best new comer awards at the Metal Hammer golden gods awards.
BABYMETAL have come a long way since they started, they have been endorsed by Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Judas Priest, KISS, Brian May, just to name but a few of the heavy weights of Metal royalty. When they announced that they were playing Wembley Arena last year, that announced that they REALLY arrived and made it big, as it would've taken years to get a chance to even open for one of the bigger bands at this legendary venue, let alone to actually headline there, this is the first date in there The One world tour that kicks off on the 2nd of April 2016, the day after their release of their second album Metal Resistance, on the 1st of April, and there will be a massive announcement on the 1st of April, The Fox Day.

Nina Hagen and Lene Lovich
When I first heard of Lene Lovich, it was back in the late 70's early 80's, with her track Lucky Numbers, I was 6 or 7 yrs old at the time, when I asked my older brother (who's 8 yrs older than me) who she was? what type of music is this she's doing? etc, he classed her as a punk/post punk singer from the London area of the UK, I was like OK, at the time I took what he said at face value, I didn't question him, I had no reason to, he knew more about music than I did at the time, he was right in a way, as Lene took elements from different genres of music and mashed it up to make her own sound.
But when you were 6 yrs old and seeing somebody like Lene Lovich for the first time, you automatically think that she is weird, but in a good way. Now that I'm older, and I look back at that time in the 70's and 80's Lene Lovich was one of the innovators of the Goth/Cyber Goth/Cyber Punk genres that was coming out of Germany. And as for her style it was taken for the Cyber Punk/Dark Wave genres.
In the very early 80's, my two brothers introduced me to Nina Hagen, a singer from Germany, I was asking the same questions about Nina, like I was with Lene. Now it wasn't up until around 1986, that I had the first look of Nina Hagen as she and Lene Lovich did a song together called Don't Kill The Animals.
Nina did a couple of interviews about the Don't Kill The Animals song and at first I thought that Nina was Lene as they have very similar styles to one another but when my older brother point out "No that's not Lene, that's Nina Hagan" I was "OK". Over time, as I found out more about Nina Hagen I really like her, as she has done some really good albums the years. Hagen, like Lovich, is one of the innovators of the Goth scene and has influenced a lot of bands.
Hagen has collaborated with bands and singers such as Adamski and Apocalyptica. With Apocalyptica they did a cover version of Rammstein's Seemann
Over the years I have come to respect Hagen and Lovich for their music and being Animal Rights activists.
Lene Lovich and Nina Hagen have been recording and touring since the mid 70's and they can still show some of these young music upstarts how to do it.
Lovich has announced on her official Twitter page that this year they will be doing some festivals here in the UK and in Germany.

Eisenfunk: Where are they now?
In the last 6+ months, as people will know by now , that I have been trolling through YouTube looking for artists, singers, groups and bands. I have posted some of the videos up on my Twitter page Cilgrug, just to share what i have found. Some videos were already have been known by some of my followers, but some were new.
When I came across Eisenfunk a few months ago, I thought "Pretty good band", as I am into the Goth/Cyber Goth/ Cyber Punk and all their sub genres, for years, well ever since the late 80's.
When I looked up Eisenfunk and did a bit of research on them, I found out that they have 5 albums out from 2007 to 2011, but when i found out that they disbanded in 2014, "Why" I thought, "Why did you disband, when your popularity is high and growing after you disbanded", yeah with YouTube their videos are growing in popularity as people like me are posting them on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
I have been wondering for the last 2 month or so, why did they disband? only thing I can come up with is, that they wanted to stop on a high, to leave their with good memories of the group, and sometimes when groups split, there is such animosity between the members that they lose a lot of fans, but not these, their fan base is actually growing, hopefully if Eisenfunk see that their fan base is growing, that they will reunite and do another album, plus I for one will go out and buying it.
I have all of their albums and the albums are brilliant, OK they might be repetitive, but when you want to dance in a nightclub or in your own home this is what you want. as the baseline is superb, as this will get you up and start dancing.
Coming on Eisenfunk, reunite and do at least one more album for your fans, they would appreciate it.

Leo Moracchioli Music
What can I say about Leo, well, he is a extremely talented multi instrumentalist from Norway, He runs a studio on the westside of Norway, it's called Frog Leap Studios, he does a lot of cover songs that he turns into Metal tracks that blow your mind. Leo has done songs by Lady GaGa, Psy, the Bee Gees, Lou Bega, just to name a few.
On some of the videos you will his wife Stine Moracchioli on Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, Blur's Song 2 and Blue Oyster Cult's (Don't Fear) The Reaper who is a very talented bassist in her own right. His daughter who also appears in a lot of the videos as well.
I have been a recent convert to watching Leo's YouTube channel and what I have sen on there is amazing, and people should check his channel out and get the full effect of his intensity and passion for what he does. Frog Leap Studios you will not regret this as you will be hooked on him like I am.
On Leo's channel you will find some 'behind the scenes' videos that Leo takes you through the process of how he came to the decision of which song to do (mostly he gets suggestions from fans in the video comments) and how and why he filmed the videos the way he did. The video below is the 'behind the scenes' of the Ghostbusters video.
If Leo ever did a collaboration with anyone (his wife Stine included), I would like to see him do at least an EP with Rob Scallon, Jared Dines, Ryan 'Fluff' Bruce, 331 ERock, and of course his wife Stine and his Daughter. This will be amazing see, as this will be, no doubt, be a super group of talented people. I have been reading a lot comments in some of the videos of the people listen and the overall consensus of those comments are they should do a collaboration with each other.
