STAY HUMBLE / DON'T SEEK AFTER FAME - SHARE YOUR GIFT / DON'T PROMOTE 'SELF'
Watch that you don't get caught up in how well you rhyme & how much swag you got & trying to make a name for yourself. That's a set up to fall away from Christ if your focus is on that. Instead focus on God, On the content of the lyrics you put out, On the ways you can share your gift w/ others (to save & sanctify them), & On your relationship w/ Christ....
Receive anointing - Not Glory (which belongs to God). & Realize you were created w/ the gift to make music for the purpose of lifting up (covering) Jesus.
"You were the seal of perfection, Full of WISDOM (lyrical content) and perfect in BEAUTY (swag).... The workmanship of your TIMBRELS and PIPES (musical ability) Was prepared for you on the day you were created (in heaven). YOU WERE THE ANOINTED CHERUB WHO COVERS (Lucifer); I established you ... You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you. By the ABUNDANCE of your TRADING (promoting yourself & your art) You became filled with violence within, And you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God; And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones. Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I CAST YOU TO THE GROUND" ..... Ezekiel 28:13-17
As I watch artists testimonies & comments they share w/ the public; I see that musicians have specific temptations they deal with, & I have much compassion for their struggles. It breaks my heart when I see & hear about those who are entertaining these temptations - to focus more on themselves & their gift than on covering Christ. It saddens me to see & hear artists trying to live for & promote Christ, but also mixing w/ the world & the lusts of the flesh. With good intentions, of trying to reach the lost, they water down their gospel message from what they have always done.
Parents also do this same thing thinking it will make them more accessible to their kids for receiving the truth of Christ. I've NEVER seen it work! I've repeatedly seen it fail & both parent and child fall away from their place they had w/ God. Pastors too are constantly tempted (for the purpose of drawing & keeping people in church) to speak more on GOD'S love and mercy toward us, then on OUR love towards God through obedience & abstaining from sin. All I've ever seen come from this is church members who think it's okay to come to God & continue to sin; and then believe they will still make it to heaven when they love the things in the world over God's truths found in His word. And, All of us are tempted every day to love the world more than God & to serve the lusts of the flesh rather than Christ who bought our salvation.
So this is not to be Pharasytical & create human rules & doctrines for gospel artists to follow. Nor is this written to call out people who do or don't measure up to some set of rules for the gospel music industry. This was written to encourage gospel artists to keep their focus right & to realize and remember why music even exists - That it was created in Heaven (on Lucifer) for the sole purpose of covering God, of lifting up the name of Christ.
My prayers are with you & I am covering you as you cover Christ.

"Then Jesus went w/ them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to you." ... "When Jesus heard these things He marveled at him" -Luke 7:6,7:9 .... Can you imagine us humans 'not worthy' as the centurion calls himself, but the God who created the universe & us, to have Jesus marvel at something we do (at our faith in Him) as He did w/ the centurion - & then not let Him in cause we don't feel worthy. Jesus was on His way to the man's house to meet him but centurion sent Jesus away, taking only the miracle he requested. He had a chance to see Jesus face to face & wouldn't let Jesus come to him. I am so glad I serve a God who is not unreachable & sits somewhere in heaven a-far-off handing out miracles & blessings as we need Him. Glad I know a God who made me in His image, who would 'marvel' at me, who takes time to meet me. So glad that he gave His life on Calvary, tearing the veil so I can be intimate w/ Him. Thankful for the gift of the Holy Ghost - Jesus inside of me - how much more intimate could you get than that !! ..... So sad to see people love God, but never meet Him because they don't feel worthy & have no idea how much Jesus loves them back. So sad to hear people express their great desire to come to church & then hear them say they don't belong there, or that the church might collapse if they walked in (cause of their sins) - And they won't let you convince them otherwise .... Praying today for the many people who desire in their hearts o know Jesus intimately, but don't feel worthy to come to Him. - Please pray w/ me!
