Underneath The Table

Nothing travels faster than the word of mouth. Why is this important? It will easily make or break you - no matter how much money you dump into marketing. Remember, if you can't give your fans the time of day, you might as well pack up now and head home - you will be there soon anyway (permanently)

Know Your Bandmates Mate!!!

If you are a musician that works with other artists, chances are, somewhere along the line you have hit a snag. Whether it is creatively, ideological, or simply you don't like the girlfriend/wife, we have all been there and suffered for it. A little advice, if the writing is on the wall, read it, and do it. Don't invest more of your time, money, and "everything" to a project that never had a future in the first place (thanks to mister celeb and his girlfriend). Either move on or ship the dude out asap especially if its conflicting with the band to a high degree (I can't do shows on Saturday nights cause I have to hang out with my girlfriend that day)

Pay to Play?

FYI - Some venues out there want you to pay to play. This fee is sometimes up to $500 just to grace their stage. Important to note is three crucial factors before you ever accept a gig like this. 1.) Draw - there better be people there, otherwise you are out 5 hundred and no more better for it. 2.) Contacts - will you develop promising industry contacts by doing the show. 3.) Are you "MAN" enough - a lot of bands are not ready for the lime light, this separates the "men from the boys" outright. Either you like being a national act, or you prefer to be in a CCR cover band
