Excerpt from "HIP HOP IS DEAD?"

"I have recently come into contact with an up and coming MC who seems to have the juice. Her old school flow and potent (deep) lyrics creates a deep sense of hope that perhaps Hip Hop isn't dead. Her name is Jay MarleyShakur and I encourage everyone to give her music a listen. With time she will without a doubt become one of the greats. http://www.reverbnation.com/jaymarleyshakur

Such artists leave me with hope that my beloved Hip Hop will indeed make a come back. The masses need someone to believe in and have been blindsided by "snapbacks and tattoos" and have forgotten that it is the lyrics that bring beauty and truth to the music. The beats might be catchy, but it is the lyrics that make the song. It is the lyrics that create such a wondrous art form.

Give a listen to Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Jay Electronica, Tupac, The Fugees, Lauryn Hill, Peter Rock and CL Smooth, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick and of course UP AND COMING FEMALE MC, New Yorks own, Jay MarleyShakur http://www.reverbnation.com/jaymarleyshakur --- and then refer back to some of the songs you favor that play on the radio today. Afterwards you should then ask yourself....is Hip Hop dead? Or is it dominant?" To view the entire blog entry, feel free to visit: -- http://justzassie.blogspot.com/
