the Blah-ness of winter

It is blah in Nebraska, it is cold, sometimes snowy, and all I want to is, to be outside, with a beer listening to some really good music. North Platte has a rare opportunity this winter to have a fantastic band in town the weekend of the 13th. Cody Canada and the Departed. These guys are great. I got to see them this last summer at an outdoor concert that was almost cancelled due to some crazy-ass weather. I have pictures of the storm...CRAZY! Cody Canada was great. It was all about the music, no crazy flashy lights, dancers, or some dude running the stage, NO they were there to play the music. Man, I am really excited for the spring and summer....

West WInd

This weekend was a Halloween. The opportunity to be someone else. I took my gypsy look with my vampire and 80s dressed friends to Sculley's Shooters in North Platte for a goulish good time(had to put that in here). The band playing was call West Wind. Having seen alot of country cover bands, West Wind on a scale of one to ten and ten being great was an eleven! There were brilliant! They were so much fun to listen to. They had this fiddle player that can JAM! The band played 'Devil Went Down to Georgia' by Charlie Daniels Band. Let me tell you, I have heard this song a million times, I have heard fiddle players play that song really well and play really really REALLY bad but this guy HOLY CRAP! was awesome! He played just as good or even better than Charlie Daniels himself. If anyone has a chance to hear these very talented musicians play... do it. You will not be disappointed.

the Band called Formally Three

I went to the bar last night knowing I was going to watch and listen to a good band, what I didn't realize that they were Awesome! I had so much fun! They played everything from the Police to the Black Eyed Peas. Not only are they a talented duo but really nice guys. Spencer the singer is so diverse that he sings, plays trumpet and his fingers dance effortlessly on the keyboard. What a talent. Chad the drummer can rock the trap. His drum licks were very impressive that you can't help but tap your toes and drum your fingers and can't help but wish you could keep a beat like that. Spencer and Chad... Formally Three, fantastic performance! Bravo!
