The New Citizen Kane / Press

“Living life month-by-month Kane Luke has had a rich, enthusiastic and active life with lots of travelling and varied job situations. Having lived in Ireland, Italy and US he is now settled in East London where we came by to have a chat about his choice of career, music, and his new dance music project, The New Citizen Kane.”

““Heart’s Aren’t Made Of Wood” the second single from the new album, is a hypnotic electro pop single with swirling synths and big hooks. The minimalist electro vibe, is a throw-back to crisp sounds of Robyn, Sam Sparro and Hot Chip. Indie eltro pop revived, the latest single is taken from his latest work “It’s Not Science . . . It’s A Feeling” due to drop early June.”

“It takes a generous pinch of pixie dust these days for an EDM act to stand out amongst the madding crowd. In order to succeed, both sound and look must cohere into a recognisably fresh brand. Forget “Rosebud”, all rise for The New Citizen Kane! Kane has created a distinctive, self-styled “indie-electro-pop” sound. Debut single “White Night” features modern, minimal synth chords melded with classic 90s Euro-dance elements (reminiscent in equal parts of Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode). The vocals are spoken-sung a la Moby and Calvin Harris in a deep, emotive croon much like German dance project Schiller’s 90s hit “Glockenspiel”. It doesn’t hurt that Kane is also exceedingly easy on the eye and dresses needle-sharply – think David Gandy meets Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs.”

“The New Citizen Kane, recently unveiled this little stomper and GT Towers has officially been in undulating overdrive ever since. Channelling George Michael in his utmost prime, the track soars with a gay-friendly tempo of 90s infusion and contemporary, clean-cut beats fresh from the floors of dance’s finest. The video, featuring Kane himself, also presents a tasty platter of well-cooked torso with stubble sorbet, for which we are bowing in eternal gratitude. Check, please!”

"Early stages methinks but this could lead to a male artist, people that only like girl pop can like?"
