“Thanks Garagedays for giving me the hope back, you can still make music that will appeal to the nostalgic but still sounds fresh and exciting, that is a feat to be proud of”
“Pretty soon they slacken down pace in the lengthy ‘Father’. Emotive soloing is really very evocative of Metallica and this impression will still increase while listening to the whole record. The howling, sensitive solos are marvellous! The fine thing about this debut is that tight up-tempo thrash grenades with bone incinerating riffs such as ‘Blow Away’, the smooth ‘I’m Your Hate’ and the slogan-like ‘Piece Of Shit’ are always intermittent with semi acoustic songs in which plucking guitars and drawn out solos in the Metallica way reign. In ‘Father’ vocals are a bit of a spoilsport, but the beautiful guitar work in ‘Four’ (about the four horsemen) and the partly spoken ‘Conscience’ make me really enjoy this debut album. Once again it is proven that it is better to create something not so original with heart and soul, than it is to try the utmost to be innovative at all costs. Fans of Metallica, Forbidden and Destruction must check out ‘Dark And Cold’!”
“Everything works well together on this album the vocals compliment the virtuoso style guitar and the percussion both underpins and comes into it's element of it's own accord, in short a solid, decent old school metal album that doesn't pretend to be anything different. Stand out tracks are a lot for fast paced heavy look no further than "Last Breath" or "Piece of Shit". In the mood for something a bit darker try "Father", something slower "Four" or something mixing a bit of everything and probably my personal favourite "Conscience". Check these guys out at the links below (no seriously go now and check them out!) ”
“The ten tracks and about 42 minutes of music flow by swiftly and all of a sudden the album is past and you have this sense that you have listened to something really good. There is no track that really stand out from the rest but the overall feel is so good that it does not really matter. I find myself enjoying to listen to this album as it is really good and maybe also a start of a career of a great band.”
“Here comes another band from the mighty land of "Abigor" and "Belphegor". "Garagedays" here is a heavy metal band with no special feature but its heaviness, knowing exactly how to mix their music as fast and melodic as it required. If you went to a music store and found this album on its shelves, then hold your breath for a heavy metal album that is worth the listen. ”
“Another excellent track is 'Blow Away', loaded with chugging guitars that break into an excellent 'old school' guitar solo. The wild card track was 'Black Bridges', at just under two minutes long the shortest track on the album, a slower, doom ridden number with dark lyrics; interesting. You can hear strong Metallica and Judas Priest influences in the songs, as well as putting you in mind of a whole lot of others from that era. At times I even thought there was a tiny touch of Venom and Onslaught in places. As first albums go, this is a good one, a solid musical foundation to build on and it will be interesting to see where they go from here. ”
“There’s plenty of head banging promise for their live shows (they’re at the moment on tour with MASTER), and the CD is just great Metal experience, pure energy, and power, certainly impressive for a debut. Do check these guys out and see how you’ll like them, they certainly deserve the chances given to them if only for their passion and love of Heavy Metal! ”
“It seems that it was not a bad choice for Massacre to sign this band. Garagedays is highly talented and even long experienced heavy/thrash bands have to take care that this guys get ahead of them on the austrian and international highways. Their music is not pure thrash or speed metal, nor pure heavy or power metal. It is the mixture of all that kinds that let the music become much interesting. For a debut „Dark and Cold“ is nothing more than fantastic. Aggressive but moody, sometimes easy, sometimes strange. Both thumbs up for Garagedays !! Hopefully in the same quality next… Points: 8,5 / 10 ”
